Therapeutic-Imagery
The picture that is worth a thousand words
One of the greatest joys in my work as a Health Coach is to show my clients how to chose and then use specific therapeutic-imagery to help aid recovery from illness, achieve a goal or move towards better health.
Just about everyone can use imagery successfully to bring about some positive changes in their life. You can do it too. Perhaps you have already heard of the saying ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’?
Well that has never been more true than with the use of guided or therapeutic imagery, as the use of pictures or symbols can act as a bridge between the conscious and unconscious minds and help to bring about change.
Of course, it is also always really important to take advantage of your local medical services too and to follow your doctors advice, but enhancing your health and recovery with mental rehearsal and therapeutic-imagery can be an important part of your solutions too.
How often do you need to practice?
There is no set answer to this as the number of sessions you will need is influenced by many factors, for example:
1. How long you have had the problem, fear or unhelpful belief about yourself.
2. How serious your condition is.
3. How easy you find it to enter a quieter state of mind and stay focused on your desired outcome.
In general the more often and the more clearly you can focus your attention on vivid images of yourself healthy and well, then the faster your will see results.
For most people though I find that half an hour’s practice 3 – 4 times a week is sufficient to bring about change within a short period of time.
