    <title>What are your health equations?</title>

    <description>An equation is simple a set of numbers or words joined by an equals sign that forms a truthful statement. But equations aren’t just useful in maths, they are useful to help us understand our health too. For example many people have an equation  that says cancer = death, or that exercise = discomfort, or changing a habit = struggle, or even I (me) = my fat thighs.

Our equations usually reflect our subconscious beliefs about our self,  and  in tempting us to believe  that they are true  they often  pile up together to form what we call our self image, or self esteem. 

Think about this for a moment, what equations do you have running in the back of your mind.

In fact these inner equations are just delusions  that you have invested in to help you make sense of the world around you, but they are not your truth, far from it in fact and shinning the brilliant light of your attention on to these illusions can be a wonderfully empowering and enriching thing to do.

For most of us letting go of our inner equations altogether is far too scary a thing to do, after all they have played their role in helping us make sense of the world.

But here’s an idea for you.

Instead of feeling that you have let go of any old equations that are making you unhappy, or keeping you out of balance, simply rewrite them for something a little  bit better. 

That way you get to control the pace of change and you get to experience the liberation of greater freedom too.

Sounds good doesn’t it?</description>

    <description>Have you ever tried to make a change in your life that you know will bring you better health, vibrancy, or happiness? 

No matter how much good will you start out with there can be times when whole process seems to be an uphill struggle.

In my practice as a Wellness Coach I come across this situation almost every day amongst my clients.
 
Of course there are many reasons why it may be difficult to move forward; lack of motivation and procrastination are common challenges, or sometimes it’s simply a lack of clarity about what you really want that makes it difficult to start. But one of the lesser know reasons, which is just as important is ‘lack of space’ to bring in the ‘new’. 

After all if you wanted to buy some new clothes for yourself then it would make sense to clear some space in your wardrobe first of all to make room for them.
 
In just the same way, it’s quite likely that as you journey on your way towards better health, there will be some things you need to let go of so that you can have the necessary ‘space’ to change and move on.

    <description>The other day I got a call from a friend of mine to say that one of his colleagues had got this really weird phobia and could I help. 

Always intrigued by strange phobias I asked him what it was about and listened as he described his friend's dread of being hugged, or touched by strangers.

The truth is this isn't such a strange phobia as you might at first think. Far from in fact. 

Haphephobia is the fear of touching, or of being touched and is a specific phobia that can occur when our natural tendencies to protect our personal space becomes out of balance and exaggerated. True, it's not as common as say a fear of spiders, or heights, or flying but it is a problem I come across fairly often in my practice, especially around times of celebration such as Easter, New Year or birthdays.</description>

A big theme  for many of my clients and friends this month has been  finding the time and space to rest deeply.

All  you need is a few moments to set your intention to release  the busy thought traffic of the day, to slow your breathing down  a little and become aware  of the messages  your body is giving you so that you can respond to them and then stay in this space of relative quietness for just a few moments to allow your body to fully enjoy the benefits that deep relaxation can bring.

To be really  healthy and well means so much more than merely the absence of disease.  At different times we speak about our physical health, social, mental, emotional and even our spiritual health, they are all important and they should all be taken into consideration if you really want to get the best out of coaching yourself.  

Yet amazingly if you look in any western medical textbook you will be lucky if you find a good definition of health, let alone wellness and that is because there is no working model for anything other than sickness.  

Most of us have come to assume that the absence of illness equals wellness. 

But does it?

    <title>Self Care Coaching – A question of balance</title>

So over the next few weeks I’d like to ask you a series of self care coaching questions  and invite you to take a couple of minutes to really be honest about your answers. 

Coaching is all about raising awareness and then taking responsibility for what you have learnt, and  if you are really honest with yourself, you will learn something new about yourself.

&lt;B&gt;So today’s question is simply, who or 
what pulls you off balance?&lt;/B&gt;

Don’t over analyse the answer, just let your first open hearted and intuitive answer come to mind.

Now what might help to bring you back into greater balance?

What baby steps could you take over the next day or so move yourself forward towards greater inner calm, poise and balance?

There is no fee for this call but I ask that you keep your call time to 15 minutes, to allow me to speak to as many people as possible. 

All you need is a genuine interest in using the coaching process either for yourself or your patients.
